As part of the leadership and hiring team charged with growing value for the world’s large enterprises practicing SAFe, I performed a needs assessment of SAI’s products, learner experience, and development processes; formalized a product taxonomy, non-functional requirements and built-in quality for content at scale; led several rounds of CMS content modeling and prototyping; researched and selected a delivery partner for new emphasis on learner personalization, content curation, language translations, and application interoperability. The solution freed-up significant internal capacities to focus on new differentiators that leverage machine learning, REST, JSON, and React.

I managed a multi-million dollar portfolio, leading product management for learning and authoring product lines comprised of several SaaS LMS features and third-party partner integrations. I negotiated partnership agreements, drove the vision and roadmaps to connect LMS, LXP, and PaaS ecosystems, including requirements for taxonomies and data alignments for analytics that help healthcare administrators and executives make better decisions and strategies for engaging learners, learning performance, and ROI. My products served thousands of accounts, 4M+ learners in all U.S. regions.

I was the primary academic solutions consultant and producer for a learning company serving several major media publishers, education technology companies, and research universities. I led the business needs analysis, created solution designs, program designs, team structures, and development oversight for cross-functional teams in all time zones in the U.S. and India. Revenue growth averaged 20% per year.

I led a tiger team to create emerging digital learning designs, managed new design development and iterative usability evaluations of online courseware;  Designed from scratch, a new authoring platform. I also oversaw content production of CODiE award-winning courseware, CourseConnect, a 200+ title library of LMS-friendly online and mobile courses with study guides. Selected new development-partners and managed relations. CourseConnect is used by college students throughout North America.

October 2008 – April 2011

For Pearson’s LearningStudio LMS,  I was a product owner of academic tools, including learning outcomes manager, quiz, grade book, and learning path (selective release functions). My primary duty was to liaise internal and external customers and twenty-five local and international Agile development team members, including architects, BAs, UI/UX designers, programmers, and implementation specialists. From product/feature conception to ongoing support, I designed, managed, and trained for four major releases per year. Pearson eCollege’s Learning Management Systems are used by millions of people in South, Central, and North America.

Prior to Pearson’s acquisition of eCollege, I hired and managed forty-eight instructional designers, media developers, and project managers providing professional services for blended learning programs from middle school through graduate school. As the department head of Course Services, I was on point for all new business discovery, early product definition, team allocation, and oversight. I led course development and training projects ranging from one to twelve months. Team revenue increased 19% per year for three consecutive years, exceeding revenue targets seven consecutive quarters.

Instruction Designer
eVitro/Digital Med Inc. (Tenet Healthcare) – Boulder, CO 
January 2000 – September 2003

For this Boulder-based start-up, I was an instruction designer of course content and development standards for a web-based production capacity of 400 courses per year. I played a key role in improving quality and speed of production by developing design strategies for reusable templates and consulting all departments on process streamlining. I wrote and designed for medical assisting, RN to BSN, NCLEX prep, and others. My HIPAA course alone was used by 80,000 subscribers in the first weekend of release, accessed by over 100 Tenet Healthcare Systems facilities across the U.S.

Photo Craft Imaging Inc. – Boulder, CO
April 1996 – January 2000

During the photography revolution in the late 90s, I provided high-resolution imaging, retouching, layout services, and products for files, film, large-format prints, presentations, murals, and exhibits. I worked with clients to set scope and expectations for fast-paced projects ranging from three days to three weeks. I was also a pioneer of early digital ICC color management for various digital outputs. Clients included: NOAA, NCAR, USGS, Viacom, Communication Arts, National Geographic photographers, and various other nationally-recognized photographers and artists.
